Email Filters Management in SPanel

It would be very useful in the SPanel email management section to add the ability to filter unwanted emails. As in CPanel or with a lighter version where to filter only the subject, the sender, specific phrase etc..

Very Important! I was told when I changed from C-panel that this future was upcoming... but unfortunately it is not added after all this time. Liked it like it was in C-panel.

This feature is not added yet because the demand for it is lower than the demand for other features. Personally, I think such a feature is a must however features in SPanel are developed depending on what the SPanel users ask for and not someone's personal opinion :)

"Vlad" I can agree about that, but when I tested the s-panel I asked about this function that was missing, SCALA wrote me that it was in progress and upcoming...  That's why I am some disappointed about this. However I will not change back now.

@Thomas, email filters are already supported in the mail server configuration in SPanel. The missing part is the integration in the web interface which we'll complete once we see the demand from users. Please don't get us wrong - we want to spend our dev time on the tools and features that are most important for the SPanel users and which will bring the most value to them. Email filters are a useful feature for sure however right now users want other features more than email filtering hence we'll complete those first.

I think that having mail filters is very important for both users and administrators of the vps server, especially for those who manage companies who want to effectively filter all unwanted mail from the server side.

With out the filtering option how can we expect our customers to use our service over a cpanel option, or any other service that can help effectively filter garbage.  Not sure how much longer I can stay with spanel if its not implemented soon.

@garys I fully agree with you, even in my opinion it is a very important thing, also for greater safety both for us and for our customers. In my view it should already be active by default for all standard Spanel accounts.

I agree email filtering is important however there are only 11 votes for it so far and we are working on implementing the most wanted features.

Well y'all gave us SPAM assassin ability in Spanel to block domains but not keywords or phrases?

Seems this is the most vital option needed and y'all failed to deliver on this.

The Spam being received is coming from a different domain for each email.  It's too time consuming to block every domain.  Being most of these are the same.subject or same topic it'd be much easier to block certain words than domains.

Please go back and amend this so we have this feature available to us.

Thanks.

@Vlad, will the mailserver be using sieve filters?  I.e. is it possible to add a sieve file with hand written rules server side until an spanel ui is implemented?

SPanel VM's do not have Sieve installed. Our implementation will rely on the Exim filters functionality. If you have some Exim filters you want applied for a specific domain, feel free to open a ticket and support will add them manually for you.

We started working on this.

This feature is now available in SPanel for new deployments. Existing VM's will get the update in the next ~7 days.

Vlad:

Thanks for implementing this. Just to clarify, the only Filter Action option right now is "Discard Message"? Or am I missing something?  Will more options be added? If so, what is planned? Thanks!

The statistics show that 95% of the users use this feature to block spam messages. If we see demand for more options, we'll gladly add them.

How exactly does the filtering work? I want to discard anything with '[Awesome Kids Arcade]' in the subject, but it doesn't allow '[' or ']' and if I try 'Awesome Kids Arcade' it apparently only uses the word 'Awesome' (or at least that's how much is displayed in the filter), which could discard e-mails that I actually want.

Trevor, it's best to open a ticket with technical support on this one.
