I/O, IOPS and CageFS

Limitations like I/O and IOPS are just as important as CPU and RAM limitations. For example cloudlinux is a great solution for these and also cloudlinux completely isolates accounts (CageFS). So, if an account is loaded with malware or has a similar security issue, other hosting accounts will not be affected, which is really important.

I heard Spanel will develop this in-house. But I hope it covers everything and is as good as cloudlinux.

This is the biggest shortcoming that prevents me from starting to use spanel. Please get attention.

Hi. CPU, RAM, IO, IOPS and NPROC (number of processes) resource usage restrictions will be available in SPanel in the next couple of months maybe 6-9. The functionality is developed and ready in the SPanel API and remains to be implemented in the GUI.

Thank you for your response.

I'm so glad to hear that and I can't wait to start working with spanel.

Hello Vlad,

Will these features be released next month? Also, will the CageFS feature, one of the biggest advantages of cloudlinux, be released?

We are still working on this. I don't think it will be available next month - maybe in 6+ months as the demand for it is not high enough and there are other features with higher demand we want to complete first.

Hello Vlad,

In order for Spanel to be a cpanel and directadmin alternative, it must have cloudlinux integration or all the features that cloudlinux provides. I think the best method for these features is cloudlinux integration.

Spanel has a whmcs and hostbill integration, but without these features, no one can sell shared hosting. These features are essential to make a safe and controlled sale with Spanel, and as far as I can see, many people are requesting cloudlinux integration. (Please do a search on the feature request page. Many people are talking about cloudlinux integration and similar features that cloudlinux has.)

I think this is one of the top priorities. With these features added, many hosting companies will start using spanel, which will contribute to your more recognition and support. So it can also be a great step strategically for spanel.

For example, since I could not find the cagefs feature of cloudlinux and features such as io, ram, cpu limitation in spanel, I think I will continue with cpanel. I guess there are many customers who think like me and it will cost you a lot of money.

I really like Spanel but I guess it's not enough for hosting business yet. Because cloudlinux helps a hosting business maintain security, control and profitability. This is very important in the hosting business.

I hope you understand and please tell me your thoughts.

Thank you.

I agree with you that being able to restrict CPU, RAM, IO is a great feature and we are working on it. We may integrate CloudLinux too. It's not planned yet though but if the demand is there we will integrate it for sure.

Thank you for understanding me.

Cloudlinux also provides more than isolation for the security of accounts/sites and resource limitations for server efficiency. For example, it also has a mod_lsapi. https://www.cloudlinux.com/getting-started-with-cloudlinux-os/40-stability-features/932-mod-lsapi-installation-configuration/

And many more features. But isolation is very important.

Many users think that a server that provides shared hosting without isolation is terrible.

I hope you create a plan to do this as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

Thanks for your participation, @helloworld.

Well, the design of shared hosting is already terrible with or without CloudLinux. Shared hosting is not a solution for website owners who are interested in SEO, user experience, website speed & security because the shared hosting model does not help websites grow and thrive but create barriers by imposing resource restrictions (CPU, RAM, IO etc.), security issues (multiple sites on the same server which can easily affect others no matter they got their CPU, RAM restricted), scalability troubles and many others. That's a wide topic but at the end of the day the fact is that more and more website owners choose to have their sites hosted on a cloud VPS dedicated to hosting only their website giving them the guaranteed resources, consistent speed and high security which are a must to have the foundation for any website to thrive. In the past, managing a cloud server was hard. With SPanel that became easy :)

Thank you very much for giving your opinion.

So spanel is not suitable for providers who want to sell shared web hosting right now? Or can we now safely sell spanel supported shared web hosting without RAM/CPU/IOPS limitation and isolation?

I also know that spanel is a WHMCS module and I think this module was published for providers who want to sell spanel supported shared web hosting. Or do I know wrong? I'm just trying to understand.

Anyone may use SPanel as they see fit, @helloworld. There are no restrictions.
