RoundCube Webmail

In cPanel hosting, RoundCube is the best webmail alternative, as besides a beautiful interface it has many features that the current RainLoop does not have (or is difficult to find).

I would like to see RoundCube as a webmail option, thus lowering the risk of problems with clients when switching interfaces.

It's on Softaculous... But I guess you could not access it directly from the sPanel.

I think sPanel should make Roundcube as the default webmail. It is far more useful than Rainloop.

  • Address book
  • Folder management
  • Message searching
  • Message filter
  • Spell checking
  • MIME support
  • PGP encryption and signing
  • Mailvelope integration
  • Users are able to change their passwords in Roundcube.
  • Import MIME or Mbox formatted emails.
  • Email Resent (Bounce)
  • Support for Redis and Memcached cache
  • Support for SMTPUTF8 and GSSAPI
  • A responsive skin called Elastic with full mobile device support
  • OAuth2/XOauth support (with plugin hooks)
  • Collected recipients and trusted senders
  • Full unicode support with MySQL database
  • Support of IMAP LITERAL- extension

We're looking to switch several servers from cPanel and most of our clients use RoundCube so having it will definitely lower the risk of problems with clients when switching interfaces as stated by Marcelo.

I also support that. Roundcube should be default.

@Vlad, any update on this? I can see it has 19 votes already meaning it is on high demand. At least have Roundcube and RainLoop so that users can make a choice once the log in. You can also include Horde if need be.

photo

I can see the demand is there. Right now we are busy with the development of our own file manager with additional features such as copying data between accounts, uploading selected files/folders to a remote ftp/ssh server and many more that are useful for developers and website owners. We are also working on integrating SShield into the web interface, options to run malware scans, a language manager with the most spoken languages already added, email services new features, IP reputation/blacklists monitor with automatic notifications.  After those we have a new much more improved backup system allowing the users to configure both local and remote incremental backups and decide how many hourly, daily, weekly & monthly recovery points to keep, option to generate manual custom backups with expiration of the backup when it gets automatically removed and the user may select which files/directories or/and databases to included in the manual backup. Such a feature will be really useful for developers that are making changes to a live website and they want to be on the safe side with a backup in the next 15-30-45 days after the changes in case anything goes wrong and they need to revert. I assume until we are ready with all of the above the Roundcube feature request will gain more traction and more votes and then we'll add it to the road map. Sounds good? :)

photo

Definitely, this sounds good Vlad. Though I think that such feature would take sometime since they have to be developed from ground-up. Round cube on the other hand is a product that is ready and only needs integration which I think may not need much time from your time developers. We will wait nonetheless. Thank you for the update.

Roundcube is the most preffered webmail option by our clients

Roundcube will be added since users need it and the demand is obvious. The idea behind the SPanel Cloud Democracy project is to work on implementing features people need and find useful. We want to make developers life easier and make the internet a safer place for everyone.

Did you know that SPanel does not allow sending emails from domains that do not exist on the server and are not served by the local mail server? That blocks tones of phishing emails when email boxes are compromised and the hacker attempts to forge the sender to something like billing at paypal dot com.

Unlike other Webmail Clients, Round Cube is user-friendly with functionalities that clients find easy to navigate through.

Rouncube is a viable application for webmail needs

photo

Roundcube is a necessity and since it already exists as an application, it should be very easy to integrate it on Spanel as opposed to a feature that is developed from scratch.

photo

I agree, RoundCube has been a popular feature with clients, its interface is very similar to Gmail hence preferred by most clients.  Will be a deal breaker when moving clients from cPanel to Spanel, for those moving clients.

photo

I'd also agree that Round Cube is the number one Open Source Mail client and needs to  be there. Plus customising RoundCube once it's installed will be easy as the files are easy to edit.

This is now planned and added to the road map for implementation.

We started working on this feature request.

My dear
Vlad
now Spanel come a long journey with equalizer to Cpanel

photo

The Roundcube integration is now completed and QA is in progress. We plan to release it within the next 3 weeks.

That's good news. Thank you Vlad and your able team.

Thanks Vlad! This is going to be a great addition. 👏

This feature is now available in the latest SPanel version. Existing servers will get the update in the next 10 days.

photo

I hope it will be the default webmail application in spanel as opposed to RainLoop.

Hello!

Want to propose a new feature. Let users access and choose between RainLoop and RoundCube from Client SPanel Dashboard.

The only way it can be accessed right now is by URL (ie: https://domain.com/webmail) and by selecting either one but not inside the clients interface

Thanks, happy coding!!

Hi Team,

Can you keep RoundCube as default webmail client  instead of Rainloop when go to https://domain.com/webmail ?

Thanks
Harsha

RoundCube is currently the default webmail client when you login at domain.com/webmail
