Set Server/Account monitoring to be pinged from another location/datacenter

The monitoring that can be enabled on a managed vps is great, however it will not work if the server itself is down.

SCALA has several data centers... Can the monitoring for a server in on datacenter be performed by a server in a different datacenter?
