Upgrade SpamAssassin to 4.0.2 (Existing Package 3.4.6 from 2021)

I would like to request support for upgrading SpamAssassin to the current stable release (4.0.2, August 2025).

The version included in Rocky Linux 9 and used by SPanel (3.4.6 from 2021) is now more than four years old. This leads to several practical issues, such as outdated rule sets and less accurate spam detection, which results in legitimate emails being incorrectly flagged as spam.

SpamAssassin 4.x introduces major improvements in performance, rule handling, and overall filtering accuracy. As email reliability is critical for SPanel users, having access to a modern SpamAssassin version would greatly improve the system’s effectiveness.

Please consider adding official support for SpamAssassin 4.0.2 (or newer) to SPanel.
A clear roadmap or planned timeline for compatibility would also be very helpful.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful suggestion! It's great to see community input like this!

For Rocky Linux 9 upgrading SpamAssassin to 4.x would involve a manual build from source which could complicate ongoing maintenance and updates. We prioritize sticking to official OS repositories to keep things stable and straightforward for everyone.

That said, version 4.x is readily available via EPEL on Rocky Linux 10. We're excited to roll out full support for RL10 in the coming months likely Q1 or Q2 2026.

In the meantime, if you have any other ideas we'd love to hear them!
